The same inspection data behind this site, available to Claude and other AI assistants.
Everything on this site runs on an MCP server, and you can point your own assistant at it. Instead of searching here and reading the result, you can ask the assistant you already use, and it can weigh the answer against whatever else it knows.
It is free, there is nothing to sign up for, and it works the same for everyone.

Either one opens with the connector details already filled in. Approve it, sign in, and you are done.
Add it anywhere else
Every other client wants the same two things, a name and a URL. The name is up to you and the URL is this:

Signing in
Your client will open a Google sign-in the first time it connects. Any Google account works. We ask for one so that every request has an address attached, which is what lets us apply a rate limit per person and remove anyone who abuses it. We do not see your password, we do not email you, and there is no account to manage.
The limit is 60 requests a minute. An assistant working through a normal question makes a handful, so you are unlikely to meet it.

All of it covers the five boroughs, more than 31,000 establishments, refreshed daily from the Department of Health & Mental Hygiene. How the scores are calculated.
It answers on hygiene records, so it returns no star ratings or review text. If you want those, your assistant can search for them itself.
If something goes wrong
A client that cannot connect is usually one that does not speak remote MCP over HTTP yet, so it is worth checking that first. If the server itself is the problem, the status is at api.nyccleaneats.com/health, which will tell you whether the data is loaded and current.
